Background
The first version database of "Waste Management Technology in Japan" was posted on our website NETT21 (GEC Environmental Technology Database) in November 1996. It was our hope that this database can serve to solve environmental problems in developing countries, and today, its hope remains unchanged from that time.
However, the social environment surrounding business enterprises has largely changed since those days. With this change, our all remained databases required updating, and we started with the first reviewing and updating in FY 2005.
As a first stage, in FY 2005 we started reviewing with the database of "Waste Management Technology in Japan" and established a review committee to discuss how to promote more user-friendly database for the people in developing countries. The committee is composed of the chairperson, Dr. Masanori FUJITA, Director of Kochi National College of Technology including five representatives from private sector who are recommended by Japan Society of Industrial Machinery Manufacturers (JSIM).
This second (revised) version database includes updated data and improved functions based on the discussion and proposed policies by the review committees as follows;
