The Super Orsettler1. Summary
The Super Orsettler is high rate clarification process (flocculation and sedimentation) that the upflow velocity of the settling tank (LV) is 40-80m/h.
After the coagulant such as PAC and ferric chloride is added to the feed water, the granular material is added to the flocculation tank with the polyelectrolyte, and the weighted floc is formed. The settling velocity of the floc increases for the bigger density of the granular material (Fig.1).

Fig.1 Form of the floc
The granular material is separated from the sludge which settled with the settling tank due to the cyclone, and it is used again (Fig.2).
It is the process of the simple composition that a cyclone is only added, and the cost of equipment is cheap.

2. Characteristics
1) High compactness: The settling tank is very small.
2) Quick start up: It is compared in the classic high rate clarification process such as sludge blanket type, and start up of the process is quick. It can get the treatment water which is stable when a change in the feed water quality and quantity.
3) Small polymer dosage: The polymer dosage is smaller because it is a main purpose to make it react to the granular material.
4) Unit installation: Tanks are compact, and become a unit. The construction period is short.

3. Applications
- The effluent of biological treatment process (in such cases as our ACTICONTACTTM packed bed reactor).
- The waste water of the pulp.
- The heavy metal waste water.
- Various inorganic and organic waste water
This process can be applied additionally as the flocculation and clarification process such as water for industrial use, river water, and so on.
