Sludge Aggregating System (Non-Heating Treatment)1. Abstract
Inorganic sludge such as eroded or accumulated soil, construction sludge, and macadam sludge have mainly been disposed of by hardening with cement, reclamation or incineration. However, environmentally friendly recycling systems are in great demand for using landfill and in the light of environmental impact .
Hitachi Zosen proposes a system to recycle such inorganic sludge into a tree-planting material.
2. System outline
This system is able to manufacture artificial soil (aggregated soil) with an aggregated structure identical to that of natural soil by adding environmentally friendly vegetable additives to inorganic sludge and mixing then by a high-efficiency mixer.
3. Features
(1) As the treatment process uses a non-heating system, there is no generation of dioxin and it is environmentally friendly.
(2) All additives used are vegetable-based, providing for a cleaner environment.
(3) Manufactured aggregated soil has the same structure as natural soil and are most suitable for the cultivation of plants. Therefore, sludge can be recycled as a plant cultivating soil or tree-planting material for sloping areas.
(4) As the particle bonding of the aggregated soil is artificially strengthened, there is no risk of erosion by rain etc.
